A Story Rooted in Passion
Where It Began
Flores Island began with a shared feeling and a simple idea. Dana and Alex wanted to bring something fresh to Lisbon — a more thoughtful and modern way of living with flowers, both as a gift and as part of everyday life.
The Inspiration
In the middle of autumn 2023, they traveled together to Flores Island in the Azores. Surrounded by strong winds, waterfalls, and wild landscapes, they felt deeply inspired by the raw beauty of the island. Nature there felt powerful, calm, and honest — and that feeling stayed with them.
Finding Our Home
When they returned to Lisbon, they knew they wanted to create a floral space inspired by that experience. After months of searching, they found their home at Praça Ilha do Faial in Arroios. The entire neighborhood is named after the Azorean islands, which felt like a meaningful coincidence and a quiet sign they were in the right place.
Opening Day
Flores Island opened on October 14th, 2024. With hydrangeas growing on the façade and a curated selection of signature bouquets, the studio became a small floral island in the city — inspired by nature, created with love.
Growing Further
A year later, they felt it was time to let their floral island grow and opened a second, more spacious studio in Parque das Nações, allowing more people to discover Flores Island in a new part of the city. Designed with both function and hospitality in mind, the space includes a dedicated cool room for flowers and room to host workshops. As always, it remains a welcoming place — created to make every client feel comfortable and at home.

Lisbon With Love
Originally from Ukraine, where bouquets are a deeply rooted tradition, Dana noticed something missing in the Lisbon floral scene.
Inspired by the wild, she creates floral compositions meant to make people feel noticed, loved, and genuinely cared for — while building a space and a team with care and responsibility.
"I realized I could use my knowledge to create something unique in Lisbon — a piece of the Azores in the capital."
Dana's partner in life and business, Alex was essential in turning the Flores Island dream into reality.
While also working in Portuguese aviation, he ensures every operational detail runs smoothly — from customer care to partnerships and business development.
