Where It Began
Dana started her journey as a florist in Ukraine, developing her craft and artistic eye for floral design. When she moved to Lisbon, she brought that expertise with her, along with a dream of creating something special.
The Inspiration
In the depths of winter, Dana and Alex visited Flores Island in the Azores. They found beauty in the wild winds, the sound of waterfalls, and the endless fields of hydrangeas. This trip changed everything.
Finding Our Home
After months searching for the perfect space, they found it at Praça Ilha do Faial in Arroios—a location that had been closed for nearly ten years. The coincidence of the address matching their inspiration felt like destiny.
Opening Day
Flores Island opened its doors on November 17th, 2023. With vertical hydrangea gardens adorning the façade and four signature bouquets in the window, the neighborhood welcomed their new floral paradise.

Founder & Lead Florist
Originally from Ukraine, Dana brought years of floristry experience to Lisbon, where she’s lived for three years. After an inspiring winter trip to Flores Island in the Azores, she saw an opportunity to fill a gap in the market—creating a florist where every bouquet tells a story.

Co-Founder & Operations
Dana’s partner in life and business, Alex was essential in turning the Flores Island dream into reality. While also working in Portuguese aviation, he ensures every operational detail runs smoothly—from sourcing flowers worldwide to managing logistics.

Dana and Alex met in Lisbon at a Ukrainian singer’s concert—both having moved to Portugal separately. Today, at Praça Ilha do Faial 1, they’ve created a floral paradise where neighbors stop by to see what’s new, and customers can sit, enjoy a coffee, and watch their bouquet being crafted.

Hydrangeas are at the heart of everything we do—from our logo to our vertical gardens. Our bouquets reference the sea, the wildflowers, and the natural beauty of the Azorean islands that inspired us.
